Saturday, January 31 - 5 pm Video Showing:
"Revolution & Religion, The Fight for  Emancipation
and the Role of Religion,
A Dialogue Between Cornel West & Bob Avakian."
Part 2.

On Nov. 15, 2014, 1,900 people at the Riverside Church in New York City  witnessed an historic dialogue infused with the fire and passion to bring an end to all forms of oppression.  The speakers cut to the bone on the outrages of today's world and the need for radical change.  This section of the video features Cornel West's presentation -- followed by a rich back and forth between Cornel and BA as they answer questions from the audience.  Discussion to follow.

Check here to view the trailer for a high-quality, full-length film of the Dialogue coming out in March.

CONSTITUTION For The New Socialist Republic In North America
This Constitution (Draft Proposal) is written with the future in mind. It is intended to set forth a basic model, and fundamental principles and guidelines, for the nature and functioning of a vastly different society and government than now exists: the New Socialist Republic in North America, a socialist state which would embody,
institutionalize and promote radically different relations and values among people...(read more)

The Communist Revolution and the REAL Path to Emancipation:
Its History and Our Future"  An Interview with Raymond Lotta

"What I can say is that this is serious. We're taking this very seriously. And I would direct you to the website, revcom.us, and Revolution newspaper, and what we get into in documents like On the Strategy for Revolution; On the Possibility of actually making revolution and winning; what the new society should be like as envisioned in the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America; what we can learn from the previous experience of communist revolutions as set forward in an interview with Raymond Lotta, The Communist Revolution and the REAL Path to Emancipation: Its History and Our Future. If we're serious-and we have to be serious-then we need to dig into all this and grapple with it. And a lot more people need to be doing this.

"We need to not just resist, though we definitely need to resist and we can't put up with any more of this outrage any longer. But we have to go on and fight to actually create the basis to go all out and win-and put an end to this madness once and for all."

The Ominous Attacks against the RCP
and Bob Avakian

Updated January 14, 2015 | Revolution Newspaper | revcom.us
"Over the past six months, there has been an escalating series of attacks against supporters and members of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA and, lately, a particular focus on its Chairman, Bob Avakian. These attacks have developed over time and have included slanders, physical assaults, arrests and massive charges, and-most recently-a concerted web campaign undertaken by openly fascist forces with high connections.

"A genuinely revolutionary organization and its leader are being named, singled out, and accused of being something they are not, which could facilitate further attacks and government persecution. This ominous and dangerous development should be of urgent concern for everyone in the movements of resistance and for social change and all who are opposed to assaults on freedom of political expression and activity....

"As a first step, we urge our readers to distribute this article and let people know what is going on." Read the full article here, andRevolution Books in Chelsea [New York City] Targeted by "Pro-Police" Attacks and Threats.

"Free Speech and The Transcendent Journey of

Chris Drew, Street Artist"

Filmmaker Nancy Bechtol will be present for discussion after the film, along with Mark Weinberg, Chris Drew's civil rights attorney.
Chris Drew was an artist who dedicated himself to bringing art to the people. In the process, he challenged Chicago's peddler licensing rules that  severely restricted artists' ability to sell their work in the most desirable Loop locations and earn a living in the process. "His vision was for a Chicago that, like Paris, would embrace its artists as part of a free, vibrant streetscape. The Chicago we have is pretty much the opposite." (Deanna Isaacs, in The Chicago Reader)

In fighting for the rights of artists and of all of us to enjoy their art, Chris challenged City ordinances but ended up facing felony charges for audiotaping police. He fought the law, and he won! "Fighting back is liberating," as he said. But his indomitable spirit couldn't beat the cancer that finally took his life, just as the Illinois Supreme Court ruled in his favor, overturning the ban on taping police.

Don't miss this film that captures Chris' battle for art, the rights of artists, and of all of us! (Watch the trailer here.)

A donation of $10 will be asked at the door to support the filmmaker. No one will be turned away.
