More people voted in this election than in any other election in U.S. history, but 74 million of them voted for a fascist incumbent whose regime has advanced a vicious program of white supremacy, misogyny and theocratic patriarchy, and “America First” xenophobia. 74 million people endorsed locking children in cages, throwing immigrants in concentration camps, and backing the most vicious white supremacy, including vigilante racist and anti-Semitic murderers. A political form of Christian fundamentalism makes up the most organized solid base of this fascist movement. The 74 million include millions deeply mired in a world of lies, crazy lunatic conspiracy theories and a vicious anti-science mindset that has already killed a quarter of a million people from COVID, with the pandemic now out of control.

What accounts for this? What are its roots and how deep are they? Is it an historical aberration? Will this movement fade away with Trump out of office, or be further filled with revanchist determination? What is the danger and what do we do about it?

The media has declared Biden is the clear winner of the electoral college and popular vote.

This is a very good thing, but the struggle is far from over.

The Trump/Pence campaign is filing multiple suits in courts that they have packed with reactionary judges up to the Supreme Court.  Trump’s MAGA mobs are mobilized.  Tens of millions voted for his fascist program that has tortured immigrants, unleashed white supremacist terror, exacerbated the climate crisis, spread lies and COVID, and stacked the courts with theocratic Christian fascists. The Republi-fascist Party is standing by Trump and is in control of the majority of state governments, as well as many of the courts—including the Supreme Court, which Trump has openly called on to support his claim of victory.

As long as Trump and his regime are still in power, as long as their followers are filled with passionate vengeance, they can still prevail through legal and extra-legal means.

We cannot let them dominate the public space and public discourse.   Now, our struggle enters a new phase… as the fascist regime and its supporters try to usurp the rule of law.

The people must seize this moment and go all the way to driving this regime out and driving this fascist movement back and its hateful vicious program from every part of society.  Our side must unite, organize, and be in the streets. Fascism is NEVER legitimate.

Many people are breathing a sigh of relief as Joe Biden's electoral college total nears 270. That number

could be reached today. This is much more than a contested election, however. It is one step in a battle over the future of this country, and this world. We cannot lose sight of the fact that this fascist regime that refuses to commit to a peaceful transition of power. Quite the contrary.

Trump supporters, many openly brandishing weapons,  have menaced people counting votes in Michigan and Arizona. The Justice Dept. has told Federal prosecutors that the law allows them to send "armed federal officers to ballot-counting locations around the country to investigate potential voter fraud." ( NY Times ) Trump's lawyers have already filed lawsuits in multiple states. Those lawsuits are headed to the Supreme Court now stacked with a 6 to 3 majority of Christian fascist "justices." Three of them were on George Bush's team in 2000 that won the Supreme Court decision overturning the popular vote to give Bush the White House.

Now is the time to mobilize our forces, the "coalition of decent people," who refuse to rely on institutions and processes being torn apart in front of our eyes. Now is the time to deny this regime any shred of legitimacy by rejecting their lies. Some "progressive" organizations cancelled protests yesterday, just when we need to be flooding the streets. Coco Das of the Refuse Fascism Editorial Board, wrote in  a new article , "A coalition of “progressive” organizations said they’ll protest when Trump moves to steal the elections. Well he’s moving to steal the elections, but these same organizations are abandoning protests to “not play into Trump’s narrative.” Letting HIM set the terms.

These progressive organizations are in an abusive relationship with a fascist regime and the “advice” from the Democratic Party leadership is like the mother-in-law saying to a battered wife, “Just try not to make him angry.”

This is dangerous and BULLSHIT of the highest order. This is not how you stop fascism. We have to act with the same bold audacity on behalf of humanity as the fascist side acts on the side of hatred. Non-violent mass protest is off the table?

No! In the name of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America! Be part of the coalition of the decent in the streets! We demand  #TrumpPenceOutNow !"

In some communities people wait hours to vote, while in others - mainly white, middle class - they sail through in minutes. Attacks by MAGA thugs have escalated dramatically across the country: car caravans blocked people on the way to vote in California and New York;

one car caravan attempted to drive a Biden/Harris campaign bus off the highway in Texas! A peaceful voting rights parade to the polls was viciously attacked with pepper spray by sheriffs in North Carolina. Trump's response? He tweeted "I love Texas" and demanded an FBI investigation of Antifa (a term thrown about to vilify all who oppose his fascist regime). We can and should expect this to intensify in the days, perhaps weeks, ahead.

Millions have not backed down, but courage can't stop at the ballot box. Because the stakes are existential, for humanity and our burning, drowning planet. We will rally on Wednesday to demand that, yes, every vote must be counted AND this whole regime must GO NOW!

Any regime engaged in violent voter suppression, inciting violence against "the other," and packing the court with fascists is completely illegitimate. This follows four years of actions that should have led to their removal: terrorizing immigrants, banning Muslims, encouraging violent white supremacists, denying rights to LGBTQ people and women, dismantling modest climate protections, and on and on.

We have the power to stop this rolling coup. We saw that people power this summer when millions of us took to the streets and forced society to acknowledge the history of white supremacy this country is drenched in and demand Black Lives Matter. We changed the terms! Now it's on us, through our determined, non-violent protest that doesn't stop until this threat to humanity and the planet is GONE!
