RALLY FOR ABORTION RIGHTS: DEFEND ROE

Right now, defeating the consolidation of fascism in this country means standing up for the right to abortion which is hanging by a thread, a thread that could be cut next week. On December 1, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Dobbs v Jackson Women's Health Organization, the Mississippi 15-week abortion ban that seeks to overturn Roe v Wade. The world needs to hear OUR arguments!

Today's fascist movement, especially the Christian fascists at its core, has cut their terrorist teeth on clinic bombings and assassinations of heroic abortion providers for more than 30 years. The new Texas ban on abortion after 6 weeks that the Supreme Court refused to block, relies on "citizen enforcement" to punish anyone suspected of seeking or helping others obtain an abortion. This is an open invitation to the vigilantism that gained judicial backing with the Rittenhouse acquittal in Kenosha. Now, with three Trump appointees on the Supreme Court, those same Christian fascists dominate the Supreme Court.

We truly have no time to waste! The right to abortion was not won in the courts. It was won by generations who stood up in the streets, who refused to be cowed, who mobilized in their millions. Now is the time to do the same!

on the Kenosha, WI trial of Kyle Rittenhouse
 
Update: On Thursday and Saturday of last week, the Revolution Club joined people in Kenosha for protests of the murders of Anthony Huber and Jojo Rosenbaum, and they are uniting with a call for a vigil at the courthouse beginning at noon Tuesday November 16.

Kyle Rittenhouse murdered Anthony Huber and Jojo Rosenbaum and wounded a third person, all of whom were taking part in protests against the police shooting of Jacob Blake in the back 7 times in front of his children. The shock that this could happen after the beautiful outpourings of millions of people protesting the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery was reflected in the streets of the Wisconsin town of Kenosha.

Right away, then-president Trump, Fox News anchors Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson and the fascist militia movements made Rittenhouse their hero, justifying and even glorifying the murder of people protesting police violence.

This is really what is at stake in the trial of Rittenhouse underway in Kenosha. The pig who shot Jacob Blake was never charged by the prosecutor because the cop claimed he feared for his life. Rittenhouse is using the same justification for the mayhem he caused that night.

Right now the whole world is watching the trial of this murdering vigilante unfold in real time. Closing arguments are set for Monday.

This trial brings out two important things:

1. The beautiful uprising of last summer from Minnesota to New York to Atlanta to Kenosha and beyond was absolutely just, righteous and most needed.

Jojo Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber were heroes who paid the ultimate price, and we honor their sacrifice. This uprising forced tens of millions of people to confront the real nature of this country and its system, and think about things they have never thought about before. It showed what is possible when millions take the streets in a determined way.  But it also showed that this system cannot be fundamentally reformed, that white supremacy is bred into it, and that it will take a  real  revolution—overthrowing this capitalist-imperialist, white supremacist system—to fully uproot it.

2. The foul and cowardly killings of Jojo and Anthony by Rittenhouse are part of a larger picture: a picture where fascists are seeking to violently impose their will on people who are righteously protesting the system.

A Declaration and Call to Get Organized Now for a Real Revolution   says:

These days there is a lot of talk about another civil war, especially from fascists, in government and the broader society, who think they could just carry out a one-sided slaughter of those they hate, including Black people and other people of color, “illegal immigrants,” “uppity women” and those who don’t conform to “traditional” sexual and gender relations and “norms.” This situation needs to be radically changed, to where there are masses of people prepared to defeat these fascists and to do so as part of getting rid of this whole system, which has bred these fascists, along with all the other horrors it continually perpetrates.

What we need is “repolarization for revolution”—making real revolution an active and increasingly powerful force of first thousands, and then millions, of people organized to work for and win more and more people to this revolution—radically changing the “terrain” on which the revolution will be fought.

To make this real, we have to get organized—now. There is no time to lose.

As Bob Avakian, the leader of the revolution, has said:

Instead of fighting and killing each other, what people need to be doing now is uniting to defend each other—opposing all unjust violence, not launching attacks on anyone but at the same time not allowing the police or ‘civilian’ fascist thugs to wantonly brutalize and murder people. And people need to do this as part of building up the forces for revolution.

What You Need to Know and Engage This Week About the World and Revolution Revcom.us November 8, 2021

“For revolting barbarity and shameless hypocrisy, America reigns without a rival.” True and bitter words spoken by Frederick Douglass nearly 170 years ago. And more true, more bitter today. Flooding Indonesia from heavy rains From Glasgow, where the inadequate and soon-to-be broken promises and shameless lies from presidents and secretaries of the “great powers” desperately try to cover over the increasingly undeniable reality of a future of hundreds of millions and perhaps billions of desperate refugees, fleeing certain death brought on by environmental destruction… to those border cities of the U.S. and Mexico where the outlines of that future are on display today—the truth of Frederick Douglass’s words rings out. From the courtrooms in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Glynn County, Georgia, where the new wave of white supremacist vigilante killers stand trial and Ku Klux Klan ghosts haunt the courtrooms… to Wounded Knee, South Dakota, where the memories of the slaughter of nearly 300 Native Americans by the U.S. Army cannot be—and must never be—put to rest (see here, here, and here)… the truth of Douglass’s words ring out. But what to do in the face of that reality? How to understand the source of the problem AND the solution? For the past few weeks we have been highlighting an important series of new articles by the revolutionary leader and author of the new communism, Bob Avakian, BA. These articles get into the fundamental causes of these and other excruciating problems as well as the real solutions, and go up against all manner of false—seemingly easier—paths being taken by many who do dream of a better world. This week Bob Avakian analyzes one of the most influential of those theories among the oppressed—the doctrine of the Nation of Islam, led by Louis Farrakhan. In “THE NATION OF ISLAM: NOT A FORCE FOR—A FORCE AGAINST—EMANCIPATION…We Need a Real Revolution,” BA gets into the doctrine of the Nation of Islam (or NOI) and how that “doctrine and program actually contribute to maintaining white supremacy and other horrific oppression, including male supremacy and the patriarchal oppression of women, all of which is built into the system of capitalism-imperialism that we are now forced to live under.” When people take up one or another false path it is our responsibility to struggle with them, and to come with substance and sharpness when we do. That means taking them to the material foundations of the world, insisting on reality and a reality-based understanding of what it will take to really transform it. This article exemplifies that. So it is important to get into it, discuss it with people, and spread it to those who are desperately seeking a way out and who even more desperately need a real, scientifically grounded, solution: revolution, and the new communism brought forward by Bob Avakian.
