From Glasgow, where the inadequate and soon-to-be broken promises and shameless lies from presidents and secretaries of the “great
powers” desperately try to cover over the increasingly undeniable reality of a future of hundreds of millions and perhaps billions of desperate refugees, fleeing certain death brought on by environmental destruction… to those border cities of the U.S. and Mexico where the outlines of that future are on display today—the truth of Frederick Douglass’s words rings out.From the courtrooms in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Glynn County, Georgia, where the new wave of white supremacist vigilante killers stand trial and Ku Klux Klan ghosts haunt the courtrooms… to Wounded Knee, South Dakota, where the memories of the slaughter of nearly 300 Native Americans by the U.S. Army cannot be—and must never be—put to rest (see here, here, and here)… the truth of Douglass’s words ring out. But what to do in the face of that reality? How to understand the source of the problem AND the solution? For the past few weeks we have been highlighting an important series of new articles by the revolutionary leader and author of the new communism, Bob Avakian, BA. These articles get into the fundamental causes of these and other excruciating problems as well as the real solutions, and go up against all manner of false—seemingly easier—paths being taken by many who do dream of a better world. This week Bob Avakian analyzes one of the most influential of those theories among the oppressed—the doctrine of the Nation of Islam, led by Louis Farrakhan. In “THE NATION OF ISLAM: NOT A FORCE FOR—A FORCE AGAINST—EMANCIPATION…We Need a Real Revolution,” BA gets into the doctrine of the Nation of Islam (or NOI) and how that “doctrine and program actually contribute to maintaining white supremacy and other horrific oppression, including male supremacy and the patriarchal oppression of women, all of which is built into the system of capitalism-imperialism that we are now forced to live under.” When people take up one or another false path it is our responsibility to struggle with them, and to come with substance and sharpness when we do. That means taking them to the material foundations of the world, insisting on reality and a reality-based understanding of what it will take to really transform it. This article exemplifies that. So it is important to get into it, discuss it with people, and spread it to those who are desperately seeking a way out and who even more desperately need a real, scientifically grounded, solution: revolution, and the new communism brought forward by Bob Avakian.
