To mark Earth Day 2016, one of the world's leading climatologists, Professor David Archer, geophysicist at the University of Chicago, will join us to explain the prediction of a recent study by an international group of climate scientists including James Hansen--that
a dangerous rise of sea water, 1 meter or more, will occur within 50 to 100 years. This human-driven, planet-wide thaw will flood coastal areas across the globe and unleash superstorms--in the lifetime of children who are born today.

Prof. Archer at recent environment protest.
In addition to his own scientific work, Dr. Archer is an avid popularizer of the science of climate change and global warming, including in classes aimed at non-scientists. Join us to understand this environmental emergency more deeply and discuss what must be done to address it.
For background on the environmental emergency, read the special issue of Revolution "State of EMERGENCY! The Plunder of Our Planet, The Environmental Catastrophe, The Real Revolutionary Solution."
Archer's book The Long Thaw: How Humans Are Changing the Next 100,000 Years of Earth's Climate is on sale at Revolution Books.
