4-01-13 Plan for the Fundraising Dinner on Saturday April 13

Fundraising Dinners to Celebrate and Spread the Film: BA Speaks REVOLUTION - NOTHING LESS” in this issue of Revolution newspaper. The article says:

The dinner should be built for and have the spirit and mission of coming together to make a huge difference in the lives of the people of the world by spreading this powerful talk by Bob Avakian far and wide - because people need to know there is a way out and there is a leadership to enable them to realize their potential as emancipators of humanity.

“People will also come to the dinners because it will make a difference - eating and talking with others, probing further about the problems humanity faces and the solution of real revolution. Grappling with what BA put forward in the films, plans can be made and discussed to make a big impact with the film; people can get DVD’s on consignment along with tips for selling it with new ways developed and connections made for everyone to take part, including by joining in raising funds to spread the revolution - letting people know about BA and the new synthesis of communism he has developed.

In this spirit a group of people met and developed the following basic plan.

1. People are the most important part of this plan. Inviting people who came to the film premiere as well as people who wanted to come but couldn’t, and people who have just learned about BA and the film since the premiere. And all those people can invite others who want to learn about this film and the campaign to spread it everywhere. So getting out the invitation to the dinner widely, while spreading word about the film is critical, and really getting into the importance of their participation and contributions with people and encouraging them to come and bring others. NEEDED: Everyone to spread the word to people you know. Volunteers to do phone banking. Someone to set up a Facebook event page.

2. The format for the evening is the following:

Doors open 6 pm, Saturday, April 13, at Grace Place 637 Grace Place (in the south loop, Chicago). This is a central location for public transportation and there are nearby parking lots for $8 (for the evening). We are asking for $10 donation per person or bring a dish or beverage to share (or both).

Informal meet and greet from 6 to 6:30 with chips and beverages and other appetizers and music to create a welcoming atmosphere for the diversity of people of all ages (children welcome!) and encourage people to mix and talk.

There will be tables where people can buy the DVD and get more copies on consignment. There will be packets with materials promoting the film, including upcoming scheduled film showings and fundraising activities, so that everyone can spread the word further. There will be flyers on how to set up a film showing at a public library or at your house. People will be circulating to talk to people about being part of the BA Everywhere Committee, the Revolution Club, and many other avenues into the movement for revolution. There will be buttons and t-shirts available to buy as well.

There will be a silent auction where people can buy tickets for $1 each (to be drawn later in the evening). NEEDED: donated items and services to be auctioned off (for example, hair cuts, massage, dinner for 2, art of various kinds, copies of the DVD etc)

Potluck buffet served at 6:30-7:30. We need a wide variety of dishes, home made and donated by restaurants, bakeries, etc. A volunteer has offered to be the person people can report to about what they are bringing. Contact: BA Everywhere (312) 860-8167 or BAEverywhereinchicago@Yahoo.com or phone #773 489-0930 at the book store to report your food donation.

Ideas for sharing: At the tables when people are eating, there will be boxes where people who have seen the film “BA Speaks: Revolution - Nothing Less!” can put pieces of paper where they have written their comments on what they liked about the talk, or something in the film they really want to talk more about or something that changed how they look at things, or other thoughts on the whole experience. Then these can be drawn out of the box and shared with other people at the table, including people who have not yet seen the film, as a way for everyone to share experience and learn about the content of the film.

Another idea is to have a paper at each table where people could brainstorm ideas on how to get this film out and what their ideas are for fundraising. “Imagine what a difference it would make if BA was everywhere...” (for example, imagine if we could raise the money to show this film in the parks every week this summer). These ideas from all the tables could be written on a white board or on a paper banner for everyone to see.

The program will begin as people are eating dessert around 7:15. An MC will give an introduction. An important part of the program will be clip(s) from the film to give everyone (whether they have seen the film before or not) a real sense of who BA is and what this film is about. Then there will be readings of some of the testimonials and statements about the film. If people have ideas for or want to make spoken word or musical contributions email baeverywhereinchicago@yahoo.com or call 773 489-0930 with suggestions. There will also be a fundraising call and passing the basket to raise more funds. The goals for the number of DVD’s to sell by May 1 and plans for making BA known everywhere through getting the film way out in the world will be made as well as an announcement of upcoming fundraising projects (garage sales, car washes etc) to make this possible.

After the program from around 7:45 on we want to encourage people to mix and talk about plans to take out the film far and wide. There will be periodic drawings for the silent auction during this time period until the end of the event around 9:30 pm.

BA SPEAKS:
REVOLUTION-NOTHING LESS!
GET WITH IT!

"Yes, this is a film, but that is not its essence. This is a daring, substantive, scientific summoning to revolution. 6+ hours that can change how you see the world and what you do with the rest of your life. Is this hype? No.
                                                          - From one of the filmmakers

If humanity is going to fight its way out of this horrific nightmare and create a world where human beings can rise to their full potential and truly flourish, it will be because of the work and leadership of Bob Avakian. And it will be because people - beginning with YOU - get into this work, get with this leadership, and fight for others to do the same.

In March, a new film of a major speech given by Bob Avakian in the fall of 2012 will premiere. This film can make a world of difference in a world that needs nothing more than to be radically different. Whether that happens depends on us.

Plans from the Chicago BA Everywhere Brainstorming Meeting on January 5

It is up to you to make it happen

Some twenty five people got together at Revolution Books to brainstorm plans for how people in Chicago can contribute to this mass fundraising campaign nationally, for it to take a big running leap in 2013 - to get Bob Avakian’s vision and works into every corner of this society.
We read from and discussed the new pullout section of Revolution newspaper, digging into both WHY we are doing this and also the WHAT and the HOW of what we are doing.

'Effecting a radical and fundamental change in the social and political atmosphere of the whole country by projecting the whole BA vision and framework into all corners of society where it does not yet exist, or is too little known, and getting all sorts of people to engage and wrestle with it  - is what this massive fundraising campaign is all about. You can love and agree with most of what BA has to say, or you can disagree with a lot of it, or you can just feel like you don’t know enough yet to be sure one way or another, even as you find yourself drawn in and attracted by different elements...but if you are a decent, thinking person, a person with a conscience, someone who just can’t go along with the notion that it is acceptable for great social injustices to repeatedly be tolerated or swept under the rug, then this campaign is for you.'

It wont happen without you- without your financial support, ideas and participation.  Check out more of our report on the Chicago plans, by scrolling down below.  Find out more below about how you can help these plans become reality:

  • A major Chicago film premiere in February, part of a national film debut of a major new talk given by Bob Avakian in the fall of 2012, with BA speaking to the greatest and most urgent need of our times, in a timely way - with fire, passion, urgency, humor and science.

  • A whole fundraising weekend January 19-21st (21st is MLK Day)  here in Chicago: with bake sales, coffee/hot chocolate sales, a penny drive to collect “Change for Real Change,” an Evening of Wine and Desserts at Revolution Books Chicago, and later an evening of culture: “Radical Revolt Against a Revolting Culture.”
The people attending these meetings represent the contributions and hopes of thousands of people from across the country who were part of raising funds in 2012. Let’s now get back to all the people in the Chicago area who took part and get to many more new people by putting into their hands the new pullout section on BA Everywhere in Revolution newspaper.  Host listening parties with lots of people of the audio of the Cornel West interview with Bob Avakian. Doing this can give people a real sense of what a difference it would make to get BA way out into the mix. Encourage everyone to spread this interview and another new interview, far and wide, and to get them involved in making the Chicago Film Premiere and the Fundraising Weekend in Chicago come alive.

BA EVERYWHERE... WHAT YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS CAN DO

  • Volunteer to take part in the plans for the Chicago Film Premiere and Fundraising Weekend in Chicago, which are gone into more detail below, and/or pull together a group of your own friends to do any of this.
  • Get the pullout section of Revolution newspaper, “In 2013 BA Everywhere IMAGINE the Difference It Could Make,”  here.  Get it out to others. This itself is one key way to get more people involved.
  • Play the file of Cornel West's Interview with Bob Avakian here, or right click here to download the audio file. Transcript available in Spanish here.
  • Pick up palm cards to be gotten out everywhere with the way for people broadly to access a brand new interview of Bob Avakian by Michael Slate, in 5 parts, airing on KPFK (Los Angeles) beginning on January 11, as well as how they can get the Cornel West interview with Bob Avakian. Available Friday, January11, at Revolution Books, 1103 N. Ashland.  You can be part of this effort wherever you are - and whether you are familiar with BA’s vision and work or are just beginning to learn about it -  helping to get out stacks of these cards is a meaningful form of involvement,  as everyone starts to see these pop up all over.
Call the Fund Drive Coordinator at 312- 860-8167 or email baeverywhereinchicago@yahoo.com.

Report on Plans Made at the Chicago BA Everywhere Brainstorming Meeting, Jan 5

We started by digging into the pullout section on BA Everywhere in Revolution newspaper#290, entitled  “In 2013 BA Everywhere IMAGINE the Difference It Could Make.”  We talked about why this will actually make a big difference if we are successful in carrying out this mass fundraising campaign.

'Because if we succeed with this - if we collectively raise enough money to make it concretely possible to project the whole BA vision and project into all corners of society and to introduce him and what he is bringing forward to millions who are not yet familiar with his works and vision; if the framework he is bringing forward and advocating for becomes increasingly debated and wrangled over by thousands and by millions of people from all walks of life; if together, we manage to accomplish this, this will actually make a very big difference.

The whole social and political culture will “ breathe” more freely, people will wrangle passionately over the “big questions” concerning the direction of society (like knowing that much of the future of humanity hangs in the balance) and the times will once again resonate with big dreams for fundamental change and the emancipation of humanity. (Read more of “In 2013 BA Everywhere IMAGINE the Difference It Could Make,” here.'

We then broke into two groups to make plans for both the Chicago Film Premier in February and the Fundraising Weekend January 19-21st. These are  rough plans as part of meetings taking place this week in cities around the country. We now need to get many more people, actually thousands and thousands more, to lend their support, creativity and participation to the campaign as part of a process to make these plans come to fruition.

Do not leave something this important to other people!
You can be part of a February Premiere in Chicago of a film of a new talk by Bob Avakian. Help is needed in all the following ways:

  • Imagine a national debut in February of a major new talk given by Bob Avakian in the fall of 2012, with BA speaking to the greatest and most urgent need of our times, in a timely way - with fire, passion, urgency, humor and science. It is a journey that anyone and everyone who is looking for answers needs to take. Imagine the national debut happening simultaneously in key theatrical venues across the country - this would be a societal “happening.”
  • Audience for the Film Premiere in Chicago: We need to have people from all sections of society at the premiere of BA’s new talk. Where proletarians and people from the most oppressed areas of the city attend and can mingle with professors, students, other people from the middle strata.
  • As part of this, we need to approach film critics like Jonathan Rosenbaum and Roger Ebert,  who not only could be asked to be in the audience, but one promotional quote  from someone like this carries weight with people broadly.
  • Venue for the Film Premiere in Chicago: We need the type of place where it is possible for basic people to in fact be comfortable alongside of people from all other walks of life.   A school or theatre downtown, Columbia College, or UIC were considered as well as southside venues like U of C or the Mexican Museum of Fine Arts in Pilsen. The Museum of Contemporary Art has a reputation for art that examines the lives of the oppressed. People who took responsibility to investigate these please report back ASAP. If you have connections at any of these places or at venues like this please contact the fundraising coordinator ASAP.
  • We talked about how many of the people might come to this film premiere, or any critic who might be persuaded to give a promo quote, will do that because they are personally invited.
  • This means that it is up to us to go out boldly and broadly with this new pullout section of this newspaper and the  interview with BA by Cornel West and then the new interview of BA by Michael Slate and talk to all the people we know and can get hold of. The “BA Speaks” box of the pullout section says we need to host listening parties, creating a    “movement of people across the country tuning in together,” “listening and debating what they hear.”
  • To kick off the promotion of this Film Premiere, we ourselves have to be promoting this vision and this person to all our friends, our families, our co-workers, to critics and public opinion creators, to those in the film societies and film departments, to people at key political events and in areas of the oppressed in this city and sections of middle class. [Reading this blog and don’t know who this person, BA,  is?  Then see * below.] Yes, there is an actual material basis and lots of potential for anyone with a conscience and from many different points of view to want to be part of this, but it is up to us to go out broadly in society and fight for this. The theatre will not fill itself.  When we take out BA, his vision, and what he represents, many people will want to see this film and donate for it to happen - some will do so because they are turned on by this leader and this vision specifically, but others will do so more out of a general sense that it would be good thing for society if more people knew about BA and were discussing or debating these kinds of things, or they might feel that it would be good for their students to compare and contrast views like BA’s or they could just plain see how it would be better  if people were examining the things BA is saying rather than blogging about all the celebrity crap or getting all ga-ga over the real housewives of whatever.  It’s worth recalling that this campaign started because a lot of people told us, once they found out about BA, “You got a great guy here but the problem is nobody knows about him.” This campaign -  with us as the ones promoting the Chicago Premiere of the new talk by BA-  is a powerful way to speak to that and we can include a lot of people and unleash all kinds of elasticity but it has to be on the basis of a solid core that can take responsibility to initiate the Chicago Film Premiere in February.
  • Tickets in advance are important to filling the theater.
  • Trailer for the film of a new talk by Bob Avakian to broadly promote the Chicago Film Premiere. A person made this important proposal to send the national BA Everywhere campaign. One proposal was for a trailer that would consist of video footage of several different people and different kinds of people- each expressing from their own point of view why others really need to get a seat in the theater and go on this 6 1/2 hour journey of the new talk by BA.  One suggestion was some of the actors who have been supportive of PRLF by doing readings of prisoners letters could be approached about a trailer, or teaser.  The trailer could be an important tool for we who start this off  - to break things open around this vision and leadership for a whole new world  and to get people to open their eyes to the importance of coming themselves and getting others to come to this Chicago Film Premiere.
  • A local BA Bus to Promote the Chicago Film Premiere in the week prior: The bus could go out all around the city but also you’d do press work about where and who is being sought for this highly unusual and uplifting  premiere. On the day of, the bus actually picks people up from oppressed areas, enabling them to get to the theater for the Chicago Film Premiere.
You can be part of a Whole Fundraising Weekend in January in Chicago. Help is needed on any and all of the following:

  • The weekend will be January 19-20 and the 21st (MLK Day).
  • Kick- off: Coffee/hot chocolate and baked goods sales starting Friday morning of the weekend. Sell to the variety of people who live near Revolution Books on their way to work at the train stop at MDA/Wicker Park.
  • The main feature is bake sales where we get people to offer their homemade goodies and we get volunteers to then sell them to students on college campuses and to people who live near Revolution Books on their way to work at the train stop. You can get pre-orders and you can go to other spots with other bake sales.  The School of the Art Institute and Roosevelt University came up as places to have bake sale.  The plan is to get the school to okay the bake sale in advance. Anyone with ties to campus groups that might help host this sale please let us know ASAP. If you know of other possible venues (churches, community centers, etc.) please also contact us ASAP.
  • A high school student proposed a bake sale at her school and wants to find other ways to promote the BA Everywhere campaign at her school. There is a radio station at her school where the Cornel West interview of BA could possibly play.
  • That weekend, An Evening of Wine and Desserts is held at Revolution Books Chicago
  • A penny drive for spare change which this group dubbed “Change for Real Change,” where volunteers in the oppressed neighborhoods put together small amounts from empty pockets but it adds up and inspires people of more means who are then asked to match the amount, doubling it. Business owners in neighborhood of Revolution Books Chicago can be approached by volunteers to match.
  • At the Swap Meet at 127th and Pulaski, said to be one of  the largest in the world, we will investigate selling craft and art items.
  • February 9, the bar named “Empty Bottle” in Ukranian Village sponsors  “Handmade Chicago” where we will investigate getting a booth and selling craft and art items.
  • Later, in February or March, we plan an evening of culture on the theme of “Stop Pornography and Patriarchy“ and “Radical Revolt Against a Revolting Culture.
After the meeting, a young woman told us that the meeting - her first ever with BA Everywhere campaign -  was “life changing”  because until then she never thought real change was possible and was excited to now be part of making plans for this campaign.

* Don’t know who BA is? Because of BA and the work he has done over several decades, summing up the positive and negative experience of the communist revolution so far, and drawing from a broad range of human experience, there is a new synthesis of communism that has been brought forward - there really is a viable vision and strategy for a radically new, and much better, society and world, and there is the crucial leadership that is needed to carry forward the struggle toward that goal. Now available at Revolution Books
   BAE video cover
These DVDs include three videos:
"BA Speaks - 1969, 1979, 2003", and
These should get out very broadly to introduce people to BA and BA Everywhere, and would be very good for fundraising.

Pick up a few copies, and make plans to distribute these on campuses, in neighborhoods, at events, give them to potential donors, and make sure everyone who needs to know about Bob Avakian, the BAsics Bus Tour, and BA Everywhere sees these videos.

Creative Expression Across the Country Around the July BAsics Quotes
We received the following call from BAsics Bus Tour organizers:
Start thinking about and organizing right now for creative expressions on Thursday, July 26, around these two BAsics quotes: "American Lives Are Not More Important Than Other People's Lives" and "Internationalism-The Whole World Comes First." This would go up against all the national chauvinist, "U.S. #1" bullshit being promoted, on a daily basis and at a time when there's the Summer Olympics and the government is declaring the country's "right" to bomb and assassinate people around the world. And it would be in unity with the BAsics Bus Tour. (read on...)

Pullman strike
US Troop fire on Pullman strikers
The end of the 19th Century-age of the "Robber Baron" capitalists and the transformation of the United States into a global imperialist power.
There was also a clash of visions for what society should be like. George Pullman built Pullman City as an enclave where he as paternal overlord could "take care" of "his" workers, most of whom lived in Pullman City. They were expected to accept cuts in pay and not criticize workloads. Pullman charged money for use of the library. Clergy had to pay rent to use the church.
In 1893 an economic depression hit and factory wages at the company were cut about 25%, but the rents George Pullman charged did not decrease. If a Pullman worker couldn't pay, it was taken from his paycheck.
On May 11,1894, 3,000 Pullman workers went on strike to protest Pullman's refusal to negotiate with the American Railway Union, led by Eugene Debs. Within 2 months, the fantasy of a kindly "Captain of Industry" providing for "happy" workers was shattered forever.

Be Part of Taking the BAsics Bus Tour Higher
People have begun to volunteer and teams are beginning to be assembled to build for this leg of the tour. But in order to make this tour happen, and for it to reverberate across the country-many hundreds need to be involved nationally and in NY itself. $50,000 is needed to have a real impact-in this region... and across the country. The situation in the world is demanding that people know about Avakian's work, andBAE Bus backhave a chance to be part of the movement to bring a radically different world into being. This is a crying need-and if we are able to reach out far and wide, tap into the inspiration and excitement (see the statements of support at basicsbustour.tumblr.com) that the boldness of this bus tour has garnered, and organize cores of people to come together and raise the funds in broad and creative ways-this can be made possible.

"... Virginia
quote No More Generations-eng"I met Virginia at the speak-out the BAsics Bus Tour held outside the Sanford Police Department. I spotted her driving past the rally a few times before she finally pulled over and parked. A few minutes later she got out of her car and began filming the speak-out with her phone... She told me later that it was anger, hope, and inspiration that kept her there. 'When I seen you all marching, I was like, there should be more people here, you know, I was like, wow. And then I seen other people stopping and I had stopped and that's why I came over because of the fact that I knew you all were doing something very good. It makes us feel good to know that people are standing together and they really care about what is going on here, and that you're on our side. So that means a lot for me.'"

Be Part of the Chicago mini BAsics Bus Tour June 23 & 24BAsic quote #2

Friday night: 7 pm be part of preparing material & getting oriented at Revoloution Books.

Saturday riding into the westside:
Car Caravan-Meet at the McDonalds at Western & Washington at 3:30 pm. Bring vehicles to be decorated. (Rides leaving from Revolution Books at 3:00 pm)

Sunday southside:
Meet at 2pm McDonalds at Lake Park Ave. & 52nd St. to tour Woodlawn, Jackson Park and 63rd St. Beach (Rides leaving from Revolution Books at 1:15 pm)

Hook up with our crew Saturday and Sunday as we range out across Chicago's west and southside, reaching out to those who are deeply discontented with what is going on in the world, and stirring up discussions and debate about the problem and solution. In bringing people BAsics 1:13, selling the book BAsics from the talks and writings of Bob Avakian, fundraising and decorating the car caravan route with BAsics posters we will raise sights on a critical question -- both enabling and compelling people to confront how bad things really are (there is denial, even among those who are being crushed by this system from all sides) and planting the pole of refusing to accept that things have to continue to be this way.

Other ways to be part of this effort: donate and pick up palm cards at Revolution Books and Frontline Books store 5206 S. Harper Ave in Hyde Park, 773-288-7718 and get them around.

Saturate a neighborhood with palm cards and posters from Revolution newspaper... distribute BAsics and play excerpts from BA's Revolution talk and "All Played Out" on loudspeakers.
  • Organize cultural events around the theme of BAsics 1:13: art exhibits, spoken word events, music and more-and raise money!
  • Take pictures, video and report on your efforts... so we can let people all over the country know what is happening where you live and how people all over are joining in this nationwide campaign. Send pictures, video, and reports to baeverywhere@gmail.com and to Revolution newspaper at revolution.reports@yahoo.com.
  • Most of all, let's get people together and work together at every opportunity. And when we do get together share your experience with others, and know you're a part of a movement that is being born.

Building on the Momentum of the BAsics Bus Tour Bus Tour logo small
By the end of May, the BAsics Bus Tour will have made its way deep into the South... making BA and his leadership known to many thousands. Hundreds will have signed the BAsics 1:13 banners, sending messages, especially to the people of Sanford, Florida, where Trayvon Martin was murdered. Thousands of dollars still need to be raised to support the BAsics Bus Tour and, as we do this, let's prepare to get out this same message all over the country in the following weeks, building on the momentum of this bus tour and raising money and laying the basis for the next leg of the tour. And as we do this, let's draw people into getting into BAsics, from the talks and writings of Bob Avakian and connect them to the whole movement to make this known everywhere. (read more)

Next Stop-Atlanta
May 19, Saturday 3-5 pm
Drop by Revolution Books for an informal gathering to sign banners, drop off statements of support  and donate money for taking revolution to the heart of the South. Pick up BA Everywhere pluggers and palm cards and Revolution Newspapers to broadly draw people into the movement who are captivated by this bold tour in many way.
Or pull together a group of friends and  family. Tell them about the tour - ask them to find creative ways to donate and hold fund raising events and to send group messages of support to the Bus volunteers that can be shared with people in the South. Turn them on to all the ways they can be part of building this historic BAsics Bus Tour wherever you are!
Volunteers going to Atlanta  will be taking BAsics right into what Bob Avakian (BA) has called the Bible belt and the lynching belt. Speaking to people's raw outrage and their deep hopes, the tour will bring a fresh wind of the possibility of a whole new world.
Join with thousands across the country-and go all-out to make this tour everything it can be. As this bus takes off and travels into the South taking the word of Bob Avakian and the new synthesis of communism he's brought forward, the strategy for revolution he's developed, the leadership that he's providing to the movement for revolution, everyone everywhere can be finding the ways to do the same, to spread the word and build support and involving people in this in all kinds of ways.

Next Stop-Atlanta and Beyond

The BAsics Bus Tour is getting ready to hit the road in the South. Next week volunteers from Los Angeles to New York will stream into Atlanta. They will be traveling there on the money donated for this tour all across the country. Some will be taking greetings that were created and signed in the communities they’re coming in from. They’ll be representing something much bigger than themselves. As one volunteer put it: “This is a great opportunity to expand and widen the movement for revolution, as well as to let many more people know about BA and the revolution...the fact that this vision was brought to them and that they know that there are people who really WANT TO DEDICATE THEIR LIVES to change the world, that already makes a difference in the political atmosphere of the country.” (read more)

Plans from Chicago BA Everywhere Mini-conference, Sunday, 4/15

You and People like You Can Make this Happen!

Call the fund drive coordinator at 312-860-8167 to volunteer for any of all of  these plans
Some 30 people came together at Revolution Books Chicago, bringing theirBus Tour logo small favorite quotes from BAsics to share, digging into the importance of the BA Everywhere Campaign and the work of Bob Avakian. Together, we then made some big plans for Chicago as part of a truly electrifying wave of getting out BA Everywhere, nationwide, from now through May 1st. (Read the complete call for MayDay 2012 here.) The major national fundraising goal through May 1st is to raise $20,000 and here in Chicago, we have a goal to bring in $3500 of this. The BAsics Bus Tour will take off-and funds are urgently needed to get the BAsics bus rolling into the thick of the struggle in a particularly hot area of this country.

To learn about the pilot project of the Bus Tour in California in February, check these links below:

The people attending the mini-conference were only some of the many people who have been involved in the BA Everywhere campaign, and we are posting this note on the plans and what the needs are so that many more can get plugged in. EVERYONE, including new people, can take part. Call the fund drive coordinator at 312-860-8167 to volunteer for any and all of carrying out these plans - but DO volunteer! Call with your own ideas and imaginations! These are initial plans and we need all sorts of people working together on this. Let’s gather up friends and family who dream of a better world and together we can bust out all over in new ways with BA Everywhere!

may dat 2012These Chicago plans are part of people all around the country fighting for and promoting, living and yes, celebrating - in the streets and with culture and fun - to 1000s of people around this city -- a vision of internationalism, revolution, a whole new and far better world ... and the vision, strategy and revolutionary communist leadership we have to get there.

Wednesday, April 18, starting on this day, you can come into Revolution Books and pick up raffle tickets to sell everywhere for BA Everywhere! First Prize $300 Best Buy Gift Card, Second Prize $50 Target Gift Card, Third Prize $25 Target Gift Card. Donation $1 or 10 for $8.

Friday April 20th 7 pm, Phonebanking, You CAN Learn How. Come to Revolution and join with others to call people on the phone to ask them to make a donation to something that could really make a difference - to get the BAsics bus rolling again. We will call contacts who gave their numbers to be called.

Saturday April 21st 10:30 am, Phonebanking, You CAN Learn How. Come to Revolution and join with others to call people on the phone to ask them to make a donation to something that could really make a difference - to get the BAsics bus rolling again. We will call contacts who gave their numbers to be called.

Monday April 23rd 7 pm , Come into Revolution Books, 1103 N. Ashland and Pick up bundles of the Special May Day Issue of Revolution newspaper. Discuss with others the quotes featured in the special issue from Bob Avakian that focus on internationalism and revolution.

Saturday, April 28, meet up with others, time and place to be announced, to go out in a car caravan to key areas in Chicago. One area is Madison and Pulaski, where there are three blocks of shopping attracting lots of people, plenty of traffic passing by on the streets. Help decorate a truck, a van and a couple of cars with sound mounted on it. Decorations might be enlargements from the April 23, special issue of Revolution newspaper. How can we work to create a scene on the streets as people fan out encountering many, many people there? One idea: advance teams will seed the area in the days before with BA plugger cards and notifying people that the revolution is coming on Saturday, creating mystique and anticipation. People read could quotes from BAsics and play ALL PLAYED OUT. Other ideas? We are investigating other areas, possibly doing a version in Spanish at 26th Street. Hyde Park Area would be important to investigate beforehand where are some big traffic areas that day because we could blast out flyers about the Carl Dix/Cornell West dialogue being held Monday, May 7th - 7 pm University of Chicago International House 1414 East 59th Street entitled In the Age of Obama...Police Terror, Incarceration, No Jobs, Mis-education: What Future for Our Youth?

Bad Weather Back-Up Plans Go out to the various flea markets

Needed:
Spanish speakers, you are needed!
People and materials to make displays, enlargements, Banner for the car caravan.

Sunday, April 29, Fundraising Dinner to Celebrate May Day and A Different and Far Better Future, 6 pm, Union Star M.B. Church, 3915 W Chicago Ave, $10 donation. 150 Tickets have been printed and you can get some to sell to family and friends on consignment at Revolution Books. The dinner can draw in people who participate in April 28 but also many new people who only heard of BA and BA Everywhere the day before. Some people have already volunteered to get food donated from local restaurants, and we will be printing an email in English and Spanish that you can use to ask restaurants and bakeries to contribute. The Church has full kitchen, so cooks can volunteer to cook on the spot a dish to be served at the dinner. A program is planned with a spoken word poet has already volunteered to perform at the dinner and we will be reaching out to more -- as well reaching out to live musicians, one of whom is reading BAsics now /thinks it is wonderful. International music fitting of this day of internationalism will be featured.

A person who does massage suggested a silent auction and agreed to offer a massage as a gift to be bid on at the dinner. We need other services and gifts to be bid on to raise money at the dinner. Can YOU, or someone you know, offer a gift or service that people can bid on?

Needed:
People to sell tickets to the dinner
Cooks or Donations of Food from restaurants, Flowers, Decorations
Musicians, spoken word
Services and Gifts for Silent Auction

Tuesday May 1, join up with a truly internationalist and revolutionary contingent that will part of the May 1st demos organized by ‘Occupy.’ Meet up time and place for the contingent to be determined. Occupy Chicago and the immigrant rights forces are rallying at Union Park, Lake and Ashland at 12 noon and then marching to Federal Plaza to rally again at 3 pm. We will be taking out the new Special Issue of Revolution newspaper with quotes by BA on revolution and internationalism and Bob Avakian’s “Reflection on the ‘Occupy’ Movement; An inspiring Beginning...And the Need to Go Further, (Revolution #250, November 13, 2011) to all the occupiers and all the immigrants that are refusing to go along with the ways things are in this country. The idea here is to start now and go out to people from Iran, Mexico, Phillipines, and all across the world that live here in Chicago and get them to join up. Chants are needed not just in English, but Spanish, other languages.

Placards with the logo from Revolution newspaper with plenty of blank space so that people could write their own slogans, and in different languages. Because visuals will be very important! Artists are needed to make the most beautiful eye-catching banner. Past May Days saw brisk sales of the little red flags to people all through the march, and we soon ran out, so this year we can make and sell many more red flags to both get out our message of revolution and internationalism and at the same time raise much needed funds. The idea of red headband/armbands with quotes from BAsics was thrown around - silk screeners are needed if this is to happen, as well as red material and flag makers.

Tuesday, April 24, 7 pm, Work meeting to pull the materials, etc together. Place to be announced.

Needed:
Artists to make banner of artistic quality
Red Material and people to make red flags
People who are good at coming up with chants
